Dell EMC PowerEdge XR2 Statement of Volatility
Summary
Statement of volatility for the Dell EMC PowerEdge XR2 ruggedized server, documenting all volatile and non-volatile memory components. Non-volatile items include 256-byte PCH CMOS (U_PCH1), 32MB BIOS SPI Flash (U_PRIM_SPI_BIOS), 16MB BIOS Recovery Flash (U_RECROM), 4MB iDRAC SPI Flash (U_UBOOT), 8GB BMC EMMC (U_EMMC1), 128-byte TPM 2.0 module (J_TPM_MODULE), 16KB CPU Vcore regulators, and 1MB LOM NVRAM. Volatile components include system CPLD RAM and up to 10 RDIMMs per CPU at 32GB each.

Statement of Volatility – Dell EMC Power Edge XR2 Dell EMC Power Edge XR2 contains both volatile and non-volatile (NV) components. Volatile components lose their data immediately upon removal of power from the component. Non-volatile components continue to retain their data even after the power has been removed from the component. Components chosen as user-definable configuration options (those not soldered to the motherboard) are not included in the Statement of Volatility. Configuration option information (pertinent to options such as microprocessors, remote access controllers, and storage controllers) is available by component separately. The following NV components are present in the Power Edge XR2 server.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which components retain data when the power is removed?
Non-volatile (NV) components, such as BIOS SPI Flash and iDRAC SPI Flash, continue to retain their data even after power loss.
Can users write data to all components listed in this document?
No. Components like iDRAC SPI Flash and BOSS SPI Flash require specific tools or authorized update processes for modification.
Are user-selected optional hardware units covered by the Statement of Volatility?
No, components chosen as user-definable configuration options (not soldered to the motherboard) are not included.
