The ULN2004AI is a high-voltage, high-current Darlington transistor array. This device consists of seven npn Darlington pairs that feature high-voltage outputs with common-cathode clamp diodes for switching inductive loads. The collector-current rating of a single Darlington pair is 500 m A. The Darlington pairs can be paralleled for higher-current capability. Applications include relay drivers, hammer drivers, lamp drivers, display drivers (LED and gas discharge), line drivers, and logic buffers. The ULN2004AI has a 10.5-kΩ series base resistor for each Darlington pair for operation directly with TTL or 5-V CMOS devices.

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of loads can the ULN2004AI drive?
This device is designed for switching inductive loads in applications such as relay drivers, hammer drivers, lamp drivers, and display drivers.
Is this component compatible with TTL or 5-V CMOS circuits?
Yes, it includes a 10.5-kΩ series base resistor for operation directly with both TTL and 5-V CMOS devices.
What is the maximum current rating of one Darlington pair?
The collector-current rating for a single Darlington pair is specified as 500 mA.
How do I determine the maximum permissible power dissipation (P)?
Power dissipation P should be calculated using the formula: P = (T(max) − T)/θ, where θ is the package thermal impedance.
