LINEAR LTC1657 Data Sheet LTC1657L Specifications Manual
Summary
This datasheet describes the Linear Technology LTC1657 and LTC1657L complete single-supply 16-bit rail-to-rail voltage output digital-to-analog converters in a 28-lead SSOP or PDIP package. Each device integrates a rail-to-rail output buffer amplifier, an internal reference — 2.048V for LTC1657 (4.5V-5.5V supply) or 1.25V for LTC1657L (2.7V-5.5V supply) — and a double-buffered parallel digital interface supporting 16-bit or 2-byte transfers. The deglitched rail-to-rail output achieves just 8nV-s

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the resolution and monotonicity of the LTC1657/LTC1657L?
They feature 16 Bits of resolution and are monotonic.
How do I configure the supply voltage for LTC1657 versus LTC1657L?
The LTC1657 operates from 4.5V to 5.5V, while the LTC1657L operates from a narrower 2.7V to 5.5V.
Can this DAC be used for high output voltages?
Yes, the output can be amplified by an op amp (like LT1218) for an extended range up to 32.768V.
What is the key difference regarding reference voltage?
The LTC1657 has a built-in 2.048V reference, while the LTC1657L offers separate pins for using an external reference at 1.25V.
