Frequently Asked Questions

What safety precautions should I follow when using the meter?

Do not use if damaged, never ground yourself during measurements, and avoid usage during electrical storms or wet weather.

How do I check if both the battery and test leads are functioning correctly?

Perform a continuity test by touching the test leads together to verify input terminal functionality, and ensure the battery and back case are properly installed before use.

What is the difference between the 61-732 and 61-736 models regarding AC measurement?

The 61-732 model uses averaging sensing, while the 61-736 model features true RMS sensing.

When should I use manual versus auto ranging mode?

The meter defaults to autoranging. Manual range is used by pressing the button and overriding auto for repeated measurements; press it once for >1 second or power off/on to return to auto.
