DM7417 Hex Buffers with High Voltage Open-Collector Outputs General Description Pull-Up Resistor Equations This device contains six independent gates each of which performs a buffer function. The open-collector outputs require external pull-up resistors for proper logical opera- tion.
Where: N1 (IOH) = total maximum output high current
for all outputs tied to pull-up resistor
N2 (IIH) = total maximum input high current for
all inputs tied to pull-up resistor N3 (IIL) = total maximum input low current for all inputs tied to pull-up resistor

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need external resistors for proper operation?
Yes, because these open-collector outputs require external pull-up resistors for proper logical operation.
What is the recommended operating temperature range?
The recommended free air operating temperature range is 0°C to +70°C.
How do I calculate or find the total output high current limit?
Use N(I) = total maximum output high current, where LOH is used for all outputs tied to a pull-up resistor.
What are the physical package options available?
The device is available in 14-Lead Small Outline Integrated Circuit (SOIC) (M14A) or 14-Lead Plastic Dual-In-Line Package (PDIP) (N14A).
