Fairchild 74AC04 74ACT04 Data Handbook
Summary
This integrated circuit features six high-performance inverter gates, each equipped with a robust Schmitt Trigger input for converting slow or noisy signals into sharp digital pulses. These components provide TTL-compatible, jitter-free outputs and superior noise immunity, making them ideal for critical signal condition tasks. The accompanying manual offers detailed electrical specifications, operating limits, connection diagrams, and various package options (SOIC/SOP/TSSOP) for engineers designing reliable and robust electronic logic circuits.

defined, jitter-free output signals. In addition, they have a greater noise margin than conventional inverters. The 74AC14 and 74ACT14 have hysteresis between the positive-going and negative-going input thresholds (typi- cally 1.0V) which is determined internally by transistor ratios and is essentially insensitive to temperature and supply voltage variations.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the maximum operating temperature range for these inverters?
The recommended operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C.
How does the Schmitt Trigger input improve operation?
It provides hysteresis (typically 1.0V) between positive-going and negative-going thresholds, making it insensitive to temperature and supply voltage variations.
What is the difference in power compatibility between 74AC14 and 74ACT14?
The 74ACT14 has TTL-compatible inputs and greater noise margin than conventional inverters.
Is there an available package for mounting or breadboarding this chip?
It is available in various packages including SOIC (Small Outline), SOP, and TSSOP.
