Dell P2422HA Monitor Statement of Volatility

Summary

This document is the Statement of Volatility for the Dell P2422HA Monitor. It details the volatile and non-volatile memory components present in the monitor's system board, including EEPROM, Flash memory, and their data retention characteristics. The document specifies that no user-accessible data is stored in non-volatile memory during normal operation. Target users are security professionals, government agencies, and organizations requiring hardware volatility assessments for data security compliance.

Statement of Volatility – Dell P2422HA Monitor CAUTION: A CAUTION indicates either potential damage to hardware or loss of data and tells you how to avoid the problem.

The Dell P2422HA monitor contains both volatile and non-volatile (NV) memory ICs. Volatile memory(s) lose their data immediately upon removal of power. Non-volatile memory ICs continue to retain their data even after the power has been removed. However, no input video data is written into these memory ICs during operation.

USB HUB U52 Non-Volatile memory, 1Mbit No NA Flash: For Storage of USB HUB firmware

CVAA IC Flash: U2 Non-Volatile memory, 32Mbit No NA

For Storage of CVAA IC firmware

CAUTION: All other components on the system board lose data if power is removed from the system. Primary power loss (unplugging the power cord and removing the battery) destroys all user data on the memory (DDR4, 2667 MHz). Secondary power loss (removing the on- board coin-cell battery) destroys system data on the system configuration and time-of-day information.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to data when I unplug the monitor?

All user data stored in volatile memory (DDR4, 2667 MHz) is lost immediately.

Which parts retain data even without power?

The system uses non-volatile ICs (like EEPROM and Flash) to store settings like the OSD, HDMI EDID, and firmware.

Can I lose my system settings by removing the battery?

Yes, secondary power loss (removing the on-board coin-cell battery) destroys system configuration and time-of-day information.

Are there any external data connections affected by power loss?

No, all listed components are internal to the system board; no input video data is written into these memory ICs.
