Dell E2220H Monitor Statement of Volatility
Summary
This document certifies the data volatility characteristics of the Dell E2220H monitor. It details the volatile and non-volatile memory components including system EEPROM, VGA EDID EEPROM, and system Flash ROM. The manual explains that no input video data is written to memory during operation, covering OSD settings storage and firmware architecture. Target users include security professionals, government agencies, and IT administrators requiring volatility compliance verification.

Statement of Volatility – Dell E2220H Monitor
CAUTION: A CAUTION indicates either potential damage to hardware or loss of data and tells you how to avoid the problem
The purpose of this document is to certify that the Dell E2220H monitor will not save, retain, or reproduce a signal to any internal or external component after power has been removed and reapplied to the unit.
The Dell E2220H monitor contains both volatile and non-volatile (NV) memory ICs. Volatile memory(s) lose their data immediately upon removal of power. Non-volatile memory ICs continue to retain their data even after the power has been removed. However, no input video data is written into these memory ICs during operation.
List below contains volatile and non volatile memory ICs used in the Dell E2220H monitor.
System EEPROM ST M24C16 Size 16Kbit Type [e.g. Flash PROM, EEPROM] EEPROM Volatility Non-volatile Can user programs or operating system write data
OSD setting: Yes
to it during normal operation? Purpose Storage of system setting (OSD)
Controls the OSD menu and changes OSD settings
How is data input to this
(ex. brightness, contrast, color) and the settings will

be stored into system EEPROM.
How is this memory write protected? Software write protected
VGA EDID EEPROM ST M24C02 Size 2Kbit Type [e.g. Flash PROM, EEPROM] EEPROM Volatility Non-volatile Can user programs or operating system write data
to it during normal operation?

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Dell E2220H monitor save data when power is removed?
No, the monitor will not save, retain, or reproduce a signal to any internal or external component after power is removed and reapplied.
Does the monitor have non-volatile memory?
Yes, it contains non-volatile (NV) memory ICs, such as system EEPROM and system flash ROM, which retain data even after power is removed.
Does the monitor save OSD settings without power?
Yes, OSD settings like brightness and contrast are stored in the system EEPROM and persist even when power is disconnected.
Does the monitor save VGA EDID data without power?
Yes, the VGA EDID is stored in the VGA EDID EEPROM and will continue to retain its data after the power is removed.
Will other system board components save data if power is lost?
No, all other components on the system board lose data immediately if power is removed from the system.
