LINEAR LTM8047 User Guide
Summary
These highly integrated $\mu$Module converters streamline the design of complex, isolated power supplies. The compact LTM8047 and LTM8048 provide over 1W of isolated output from a small BGA package using an easy-to-implement flyback regulator architecture (LTM8048 also includes an integrated post-regulator). Designed for engineers requiring reliable, high-isolation power (>1W) across wide voltage inputs (3.1V–32V), these modules minimize external components and simplify complex design cycles.

µModule Converters Take the Hassle Out of Designing Isolated Power Supplies David Ng
Sometimes a system needs a little bit of isolated power, but designing an isolated power supply is rarely easy. The nature of isolated supplies makes them complicated and touchy,
resulting in late nights and long weekends spent on design and debug. The LTM8047 AX IM UM OU T1 OA (m A)
and LTM8048 µModule converters take the hassle out of designing isolated power supplies, placing a flyback regulator in a compact 9mm × 11.25mm × 4.92mm BGA Ro HS compliant package. The controller, power switching and rectification elements, as well as transformer and isolated feedback circuitry are all integrated. Both parts operate from 3.1V to 32V inputs and produce over 1W of isolated power. The LTM8048 is identical to the LTM8047, but adds an integrated 300m A linear post regulator.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main difference between the LTM8047 and LTM8048 modules?
The LTM8048 adds an integrated, high-performance 300mA linear post regulator compared to the LTM8047.
What level of isolation barrier do these modules provide?
Both converters feature a factory-tested 725VDC isolation barrier for safety and reliability.
How is the output voltage determined?
The output voltage can be set precisely by adding external resistors (ADJ) to the circuit design.
What maximum isolated power do LTM8047/LTM8048 support?
Both modules are designed to produce more than 1W of isolated power from a single unit.
