Identifying the Correct Modem for Your Dell Notebook You have received two modems. Read the following instructions to identify the correct modem for your Dell™ notebook. WARNING: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, read the safety information that is shipped with your computer. For additional safety best practices, see the Regulatory Compliance Homepage at www.dell.com/regulatory_compliance. WARNING: Disconnect the AC adapter and modem cables from all electrical outlets before you remove the bottom access panel.
NOTE: For more information, see the Service Manual available on the Dell support website at support.dell.com/manuals. Remove the bottom access panel of your notebook. Note the system board part number located on the memory SODIMM connector.
NOTE: You may need to remove the top memory stick to view this system board part number on the label. If your system board part number is F826N, G637N, G638N, G784N, H344N, H569N, J470N, J524N, K497N, or K556N, then use the modem part number G317P. For all other system board part numbers, use the other modem provided (part numbers YW011 or DN249). Install the modem and any modem cables included as required.
