Statement of Volatility – Dell E2318HN/HR/HX CAUTION: A CAUTION indicates either potential damage to hardware or loss of data and tells you how to avoid the problem. The Dell E2318HN/HR/HX contains both volatile and non-volatile (NV) components. Volatile components lose their data immediately after power is removed from the component. Non-volatile (NV) components continue to retain their data even after power is removed from the component. The following NV components are present on the Dell E2318HNHR/H system board. Table 1. Frequently Asked Questions

Which components retain data after power loss?

The Non-Volatile (NV) components on the system board, such as FLASH U502 and EEPROM U503, retain data even when power is removed.

What is the purpose of the Non-Volatile Flash memory?

The Non-Volatile Flash memory (U502) stores firmware and hardware/software write protection data.

Does unplugging the monitor save my data?

No. CAUTION states that unplugging the power cord destroys all user data and causes volatile components to lose data.

What data is stored in the EEPROM on the scaler board?

The EEPROM (U503) stores scaler board hardware/software write protection data.
