Chassis Management Controller (CMC) Secure Digital (SD) Card Technical Specification The CMC firmware version 1.1 supports Flex Address, an optional feature, that requires server module BIOS and i DRAC firmware, I/O Mezzanine BIOS or firmware, and CMC firmware updates and SD card installation. The Flex Address feature is bound to a single chassis; once assigned, it cannot be used or reassigned to a different chassis without unbinding the feature. NOTE: The SD card contains a Flex Address feature. Data contained on the SD card is encrypted and may not be duplicated or altered in any way as it may inhibit system function and cause the system to malfunction. NOTE: Your use of the SD card is limited to one chassis only. If you have multiple chassis, you must purchase additional SD cards.
Flex Address Required Updates To activate the Flex Address feature there are several required updates; if you are not activating Flex Address these updates are not required. The updates include server module BIOS and i DRAC firmware, I/O mezzanine BIOS or firmware, and CMC firmware. You must apply these updates before you enable Flex Address. If these updates are not applied, the Flex Address feature will not function as expected. Component Minimum required version Ethernet mezzanine card - Broadcom Boot code firmware 4.4.1 or later M5708t
i SCSI boot firmware 2.7.11 or later PXE firmware 4.4.3 or later

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the proper order for updating firmware to activate FlexAddress?
Update mezzanine cards/BIOS, then server module BIOS, iDRAC firmware, and finally CMC firmware before inserting the SD card.
What precautions should I take when handling internal electronic components?
To prevent ESD damage, you must discharge static electricity from your body before interacting with any internal components.
Why is the FlexAddress feature unusable if the SD card is write protected?
The FlexAddress feature requires the write-protection latch to be in the "unlock" position; otherwise, it cannot be activated.
