Frequently Asked Questions

Which PowerEdge models can use this cable routing guide?

The procedures cover the PowerEdge™ R515 used with the PowerEdge™ 2410, 4210, and 2420 racks in a closed (retracted) position.

How should cables be routed when using a Cable Management Arm (CMA)?

Route power cables through strain reliefs first, then carry the remaining cables through the CMA itself.

Can I service the power supply if it's in static rails?

No. The Cable Management Arm (CMA) is compatible only with sliding rails, not the static rails.

What are the steps for replacing a top power supply using a right-side CMA?

If the top power supply must be replaced, skip step 1 (removing the tray). Then swing the CMA to its service position, disconnect and replace the power supply while supporting the arm, then reinstall the inner bracket.

How are cables secured when installed in static rails?

Use provided hook and loop straps to bundle all applicable cables and secure them either to the left rail or right rail.
